Whatever Is Born Of God Overcomes The World - 1 John 5:4

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Matthew Robert Payne Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. 1 John 5:4 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the worldour faith. Have you ever reached a place so close to Jesus that the world held no comfort for you, no security and nothing in the world really appealed to you? Have you ever overcome the world? Jesus said we should deny ourselves. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. This has three steps 1 Deny ourselves 2 Take up our cross 3 Follow Jesus Denying ourselves So what did Jesus do? He left his house, his family, his position as an income earner and a person who obeyed the law and within five or six weeks He was in the temple whipping people in anger in front of the rulers of Israels faith. Overcoming the world is overcoming SPENDING on the ever ending supply of things to buy and start to SOW into things that benefit the kingdom of heaven and which end in having treasure stored in heaven. To stop spending we need to deny ourselves. Overcoming the world isnt just an optional extra, its a condition of being born of God. In Johns day disciples to the faith must have had some good solid teaching as even the young men had overcome the wicked one and the Word of God was abiding in them. 1 John 2:14 I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one. If people had the word of God abiding in them they would be a lot stronger in the faith, they just seem to have an ever rising pile of books in their library but they have a Holy Spirit that is waiting to come alongside and teach them the Word of God. Denying ourself is not buying a book about this and a book about that. Denying ourself is picking up the Bible and learning it and letting it abide in us. For: 1 John 2:24 24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. If we abide in the Son then the Son will direct our steps and answer our prayers. John 15:7 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. The Holy Spirit will direct us. John 15:14 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.Denying ourself is obeying Jesus. Because obeying Jesus goes against our inner man and our fleshy nature. Take up our cross Jesus carried a cross for more then the time it took to carry the wooden cross to Calvary. From the time Jesus knew the law and the prophets Jesus carried a burden and it was a form of a cross. Taking up our cross is also STOPING BUYING and SOWING into the Gospel. There are many wrong Gospels being preached out there. This article might not get re- printed on their ministry web-sites, but generally buying Bibles for a third world country is a great investment in the kingdom of God. Of course when you start to deny yourself your cross will come to you. When you start sowing into the Gospel and reading the Word instead of books and books, you will find that you start acting different and this may cause you to suffer a cross as you start to bear fruit. John 15:16-21 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another. 18 If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My names sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. When you take steps out of the world it may be first your Christian friends that first persecute you. When you start to share revelations that the Holy Spirit has given you and your start to sow into the third world and start to buy less and less and sow more and more, your actions will cause even some of your best Christian friends to feel convicted, and instead of following you they may strike out at you. Its not until you really start reading the Bible that you come to realise that the Gospel preached in churches seems like a watered down babies Gospel. Many run after teaching after teaching and we have been taught to do that from our leaders and the people selling the teachings when the Holy Spirit inspired John to share with us: 1 John 2:26-27 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. That says quite clearly that the self same Holy Spirit is able to teach today just as Jesus taught His own apostles. And if we abide in the Word we know we will abide in Jesus and He will direct our steps. Follow Jesus To be simple it would suffice to say follow what the Bible has to say, though there is so much in the Bible. I have an article called the The-Fifty-Commands-Of-Jesus online here. Perhaps you can read and follow that! Have a great day!! Matthew shares his heart in these articles and can be found at http://www.online-prayer.net You can read more of his articles at his link below. If you want a copy of his upcoming book of articles which will have the first sixty of the articles on this web-site called “The Musings of a Mad Prophet” please contact Matthew via email so he can contact you around February 2007 to tell you of the progress of the book. The 5 Minute Marketing Plan

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Denise Ryder If I were to ask you right now, what marketing tactics haveyou used, umm, say in the last month, could you tell me? Chances are you probably could rattle them off quicklyenough. Now, say if I asked you if you knew the results those tacticsbrought. Meaning do you know specifically what each tactic brought in as far as sales, new leads and/or new subscribers, could you tell me that? If you can, then fantastic!!! If you can’t, then know that you aren’t alone, many businessowners fall into the trap of not planning and tracking. Whenyou think about it though, the word “plan” seems so, daunting, doesn’t it? I mean really, all you want to do is “get at it,” right?? What if I gave you a little tool that would take about ten minutes to set up and it would give you a clear picture of where you are, what is working and what isn’t? Doesn’t seem so daunting now, huh?? Ok… hang with me for a bit and I will give you a tool that I use and many other successful marketers are using as well ;o) First of all, why do you need to set a plan of action in the first place? I think we all know “why” we should be doing it. In order to know what is working and what isn’t. If you are paying for advertising and you aren’t tracking the results, then how do you know if that investment is paying off? If you knew the answer to that, then you could decide a few things: 1. If it is working then of course you continue on with it. 2. If it isn’t then you let it go and spend that money elsewhere. You should track EVERYTHING…yes even the free classified ads you place. People will dispute this with me and say “what for, it’s free, if I get a hit, cool, it didn’t cost me a thing!” Valid point…but consider this…what is YOUR time worth? Sure,it’s free, but the time you take in submitting to the “free” stuff, takes you away from the other tasks that could be making you money. We call that “opportunity cost.” Your time then is not FREE. If you have a “submitter” and it takes a few minutes, you just clickand it runs then fine, you should try and always automate as much as possible. However, if you are posting on an individual basis…and it takes you an hour or more and you aren’t getting anything out of it…is it really worth it??? Put a price on everything, even your time ;o) Ok, let’s get to the Plan. This Plan can be used for each and every tactic that you put intoplace or you can use it as a General Plan as an overall game plan, the idea is to at least use it. ——–Sidebar——Note that this mini-plan is NOT the same as a Marketing Planyou would need to provide to your Banker for securing a loan. They require much more information that what is here. Thisis a tool to be used “in-house” only ————————– ——-Start—– Mini Plan For: _____________________________ Dated: _________________ 1. Purpose (what is the purpose of your marketing, ie to addsubscribers to my list) 2. Target Audience (the specific group that you are trying to capture,ie start up eBusiness owners, pet owners..etc). 3. What Tactic Are You Using (if it is a classifed in a newsletter, thenbe specific, provide a sample of the ad and what newsletters you haveput this ad in). 4. What Is Your Budget I have this much time per week ___________ I have this much money to spend: $________ 5. What Is Your Schedule (break it down into steps of the thingsyou need to have in place for this particular tactic) 6. Results (log to day your ad run or the day tactic was implementedfrom there track your results. Day 1 ad placed no hits, Day 2 received2 hits). 7. Final Evaluation/Notes (once the particular campaign is over, then you look at the purpose, if it was to add subscribers, how many did you receive in the then and based on that was it worthwhile to spend the money you did. Also are there things you had to do during the processto adjust for and any other notes that you want to keep track of if youdecide to use this down the road again) 8. Samples - I personally keep a folder that has all the advertising samplesthat I have used along with a results log (like the one in step 6). I keep arunning log for each piece of marketing I use so that later on if I want touse the same piece again - then I can quickly look and see how succesfulit was in other similar newsletters that I ran it in…saves me having tolook through past plans to find the ad, keeps things all in one place. You can make this as easy or as elaborate as you wish, this is yourplan and its purpose is to serve you. The important thing to understandis that you use it to track the successes of tactics so you know if itis worth it to you to use again. A mini-marketing plan like this keeps you organized and on track. Youcan tell very quickly which of your campaigns worked and from there determine if you want to re-use it again. Good luck! Support Adolescence with Flower Remedies

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

By Mary Ann Dittmeier Adolescence - the difficult period when a child changes from child to adult, usually beginning at age eleven and lasting through nineteen. This is a period of great change - physical changes in their body become very apparent, young people begin to search for their personal identity, they begin to feel strong sexual feelings and learn what is socially appropriate and responsible in reaction to theses feelings. Young people begin to challenge parents’ authority and the safety of their care in order to develop personal freedom and independence. This is a time when they begin to know the world they live in, their social systems become more solid, their school work becomes more challenging, many hold their own jobs and become active in extra-curricular and civic activities. Ironically, during these turbulent years, as young folks work hard at establishing their self-identity and individuality they are very vulnerable to the pressures of the world and often look for security in their peers. Adolescence brings with it a period of apprehension, insecurity, and experimentation which produces a kind of sameness in order to become one-of-the crowd. These young adults begin to dress in similar fashion and wear similar hairstyles; they begin to talk alike, listen to the same style of music, and socialize with others of similar mind. Individuality and maturity carries with it a long period of unreasonable judgment commonly due to a lack of life inexperience. Too often we hear reports in written and verbal media regarding the extremely high incidence of teenage pregnancy resulting in the death of mother and/or child, and in extreme cases, incarceration of one or both too-young parents. Drug and alcohol abuse is seen in children as young as ten years of age. Drug abuse now includes snorting of household chemicals, pulverizing standard over-the-counter (and prescription) drugs and snorting them. Suicide is the third leading cause of death amongst American teens (aged 10-19), next to accidents and homicide. Three million people in the US cry out in emotional pain by “cutting”, causing physical injury to themselves as a way of relieving internal emotional agony. Recent statistics report that there are more children in the population affected by divorce than there are children living in households with intact parental partnerships. 35% of our teens are at risk or are overweight (by 25 pounds or more). 20% are obese. It is incredible that very young children and teens alike are now being diagnosed with high blood pressure, dangerously high cholesterol levels, and the beginnings of cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance, and depression, asthma, allergies and ADD/OCD in record numbers. Almost 30% of our teens are diagnosed with eating disorders or other forms of mental or emotional illnesses. Why? One can entertain many explanations. A record number of families are fractured by divorce. Parents are absent from the home too often. Social, spiritual, role model connections are often sacrificed when the family unit is stressed. Our food sources are sadly depleted from vital nutrients due to additives during processing of our food and the stripping of nature’s soil for centuries of over use. Fast food has become a main source of nutrition in the home, in the car, and in schools nationwide. Children have become too busy and over-stressed by well meaning social activities. Our culture has become incredibly media minded, learning the wrong ways to health and happiness. Computers have become too much of a source of our social and intellectual entertainment. Exercise of the mind, body and spirit is becoming extinct as a result. What to do? Spend more time in a family unit to eat healthy, home cooked meals together. Take a few hours a week to play, take a walk, go to the park, concerts, game nights, etc. Look into community sponsored exercise and recreation courses. Worship together and develop a spiritual foundation to build upon. Contact a holistic nutritionist to set up healthy meal plans and dietary guidelines. Browse your local health food store for healthy choices in food and find holistic health professionals in your area. (Chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, yoga for physical helps; homeopathy, aromatherapy, and flower remedies for mental, emotional and social health are available everywhere.) A flower therapy practitioner can offer supportive consultation and a personal remedy formula. The correct combination of essences will help turn negative moods and emotional states into positive ones. This gradual and subtle change supports one to be “who they truly are”, decreases stress, and guides us wonderfully during challenging transitional periods. Self discovery, self-acceptance, increased confidence, and a happier path in life are all possible with flower essences. Consider essences to support the physical changes (self-image) during the teen’s years; for the transition from child to adult, and help with fear and apprehension. Your practitioner can offer essences that guide in setting healthier bound-aries in relationships. Essences can help balance anger, feelings of isolation, and even help determine the long-term goals in one’s life! There is no reason for parents and teens to wander through this inevitable and challenging period of life without healthy supports. What’s Best For Losing Fat? Aerobic Exercise Vs Weight Training

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Ted Frazer Resistance is not Futile We all know that to lose weight requires a combination of corrective eating & exercisebut if only it was that simple. Within both worlds of dieting and exercise there are literally countless alternatives and conflicting theories that most people struggling to lose weight often get confused, disheartened, and unfortunately, usually just give up trying to find an approach to follow. Focusing on exercise, in most gyms today, you will no doubt find numerous pieces of cardio or aerobic apparatus - stationary cycles, recumbent cycles, treadmills, and different types of stationary stair climbing machines being the most common, and if you are brave enough to go into a gym on any given Monday, you will also probably find endless queues of members lining up at each cardio machine station, waiting their turn to burn off the Weekends indulgences. And here we have the first rule of exercise-for-fat-loss - that to burn fat, requires an emphasis on endurance-type, cardio or aerobic exercise i.e. a minimum of 20 minutes of continuous cardio activity. The second rule of fat burning is that we need to get into the ideal fat burning zone approx 60%-70% of our MHR (Maximum Heart Rate calculated by subtracting your age from the number 220) and maintain this level for the duration of the cardio session. Based on these two rules, most people trying to lose weight can be forgiven for thinking that to lose more weight, they must simply extend the duration of their exercise sessions the logic being that if 20 minutes is good45, 60, or even 90 minutes must surely be better? The longer the session, the more fat will be lost? However, this is exactly the WRONG thinkingthinking that may not only lead to potential overuse injuries, but may also lead to slowing down of weight loss. Another classic misconception within the world of exercise, is separating cardio activities from resistance or weight training. Most gym trainers or exercisers see the 2 disciplines as separate entities, believing that resistance training works the muscles and cardio training works the heart & lungs and burns fat. Hence the typical combination of weight training and low-intensity aerobic exercise being a popular approach prescribed for losing weight. It may be a popular approach but it is certainly not the best or most effective approach. One Set Of Muscles 2 Different Tasks First we need to understand one thing. Our bodies have a single muscular system. We do not have one set of muscles for aerobic or cardio work, and another, different set for resistance training. We have a single set of muscles that we use differently. So although we may think that a cardio workout focuses on our heart and lungs, it is the muscles (usually the legs) that are doing the primary work (the leg muscles contracting against a relatively light resistance for an extended period). Similarly, progressive resistance training done with sufficient intensity can place very high demands on the cardio system. So it is important to not separate the cardio and weights when thinking about exercise. What is important though, is to look at the reason for exercising in the first place. This will then dictate which approach to exercise is best and most suitable. Most people exercise to control or lose weight. Some want to get into peak physical condition, others want to add muscle to their frames, and still others want to just maintain a good level of general fitness. Once you have identified your exercise objectives and goals, you can then look at putting together a weekly exercise plan that meets these goals. For this article, well look at 2 alternativesAn approach for Purely weight loss; and an approach for General fitness. There are obviously many other options, but we will look at these in another article. Purely Weight Loss If your reason for exercising is purely to lose weight, then you need to rethink your approach completely. The first and most important step to remember is this.. Exercise is best used to prevent weight gaina corrective eating plan is best used to initially lose weight. Now, naturally there is merit in doing both at the same time, and well discuss how to do this shortly. However, depending on how much weight you need to lose, an exercise program may place too much stress on the body in the early stages of a weight-loss program, especially if done at the same time as dieting. The reason for this is that the body responds to extreme physical changes as a stress. If you suddenly reduce your daily calorie intake, your body reacts as if it under stress and holds on to weight the same way it would if you suddenly moved to a very cold climate. Similarly, if you suddenly started an exercise program, the body perceives the change as a stress. It is wise then to start with a gradual corrective eating plan. Once this is in place, gradually begin an exercise program.EXCLUDING aerobic activity. The key reason for this is because as mentioned earlier, the body reacts to dieting as a stress, and holds on to its fat reserves. This is why when dieters begin a diet they feel that they have lost a lot of weight, however this initial weight loss is usually water. The body next sacrifices muscle tissue, burning muscle tissue and only then starts to utilize its fat reserves. By starting an exercise program with mild resistance training, you will preserve and strengthen your muscle mass encouraging the body to utilize its fat stores. Well-conditioned muscles are key to assisting in weight loss, as your resting metabolic rate (RMR) is largely determined by how much muscle you have. So to lose muscle will almost guarantee a slowing down of your metabolism. The key is that the resistance program must be light initially and build progressively. Also, each session must work the full-body, initially with one light set per body part with sufficient rest between each rest. When starting out, a twice a week program is best, and this can increase to three times per week as fitness improves. Once general fitness increases, the next step is to GRADUALLY increase the intensity level of each workout by gradually increasing the weight of each exercise, and also reducing the amount of rest between each set the exercises can remain the same. Suggested 10 Exercise Routine: Leg Extensions Leg PressHamstring CurlsBench PressLat PulldownsShoulder PressSeated RowTriceps PushdownsBiceps CurlsStomach Crunches When fitness and strength levels begin to improve (not sooner than 2-3 months), a cardio program can also be included to the weekly schedule to assist with fat loss, however, not the typical low-intensity/long duration aerobic approach. The best route for cardio is to approach it as a resistance workout, and to think of burst & rest when doing cardio. To start off, only do a maximum of 15-20 minutes no more than that and alternate 2 minutes of low-intensity, with 30 secs of higher-intesnity.As your fitness gradually improves, increase the intensity and gradually reduce the lower-intensity intervals i.e. 1 minute lower-intensity, 1 minute higher-intensity, 20-30 secs recovery. Your total cardio session should not ever exceed 20-25 minutes, and ALWAYS increase intensity levels gradually NEVER push yourself hard until you achieve a relatively higher level of conditioning. In terms of frequency, aim to do the cardio routine 2-3 times week, and not on the same day as the resistance routine. Naturally, the results of your training will be largely determined by your eating program if you ignore your diet, the program outlined above will not produce ideal results. General Fitness For those who are just out of shape and are just keen to maintain a general level of all-round fitness, its best to aim to make exercise sessions as multi- faceted as possible, to aim to cover most areas of fitness in a single workout. For those looking to maintain a general level of fitness, time spent exercising should be as economical as possible to get maximum exercise value out of each session. Ideally, each session should include an element of cardio training, strength training and general conditioning, and should not take too long in duration. Circuit training is the answer here and most gyms have at least one, if not two varieties of circuits. Circuit training done correctly can be a very demanding form of exercise as by definition, it combines both resistance and cardio training aspects. The key lies in HOW to use the circuit properly to gain maximum benefits. Most circuits have a timer buzzer (and colored light system) that in most cases buzzes to signal when to move from one exercise station to the next. There is also 10-15 second gap to allow for setting up/adjusting each station before the next buzzer goes to signal when to commence the set. Most trainers tend to approach circuit training with a very low-intensity approach, taking full advantage of the time allowed between sets, and also using very light resistance on the machines To improve general fitness levels, it is better to use challenging resistance levels, and also limit the rest period between each station. When the buzzer goes to change exercise stations, it is better to move quickly and start the set immediately, before the buzzer goes off that signals the START of the set. Then perform the set and only react to the buzzer that signals the END of the set, again, moving swiftly to the next station and commencing immediately. Also, keep resistance levels at a level that is challenging and aim to do 12-15 reps at a slow pace (as opposed to the usual high-rep approach associated with cicuit training). If your gym has different circuits, then alternate the circuit, but ensure that you apply the same approach to each circuit. Remember, aim to keep rest periods between exercise stations as short as possible, and use controlled form on the resistance machines, going for challenging resistance that allows a maximum of 15 reps. If you can do more reps within the allowed time, then the resistance is too light. After doing the circuit, end off with 2 supersets of pushups & chin-ups, performing maximum reps (i.e. 1 set of pushups, immediately followed by 1 set of chin-ups rest and then repeat), and then cool off with some light stretching. This routine will provide a solid cardio base of general fitness and good strength levels and will ensure an above-average level of allround conditioning. Herbal Remedies for Cough and Bronchitis

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

By Michael Russell If you are one of those people who get rained on a little and get bogged down by the flu the next day, you are probably sick of having coughs and colds and sick of taking medicine over and over again. Sometimes, it is good to know that there are a lot of herbal remedies that are available, effective, easy to use and can replace the mundane cough syrup and escape its side effects. Bronchitis is a serious medical condition. If you present the symptoms for this, please consult with your physician as soon as possible. These herbal treatments are here to help but are not guaranteed cures for conditions as serious as bronchitis. Coughs There are a lot of traditional and herbal treatments for coughs and some are indeed stranger than others. The more common ones that are still widely used today involve using honey and lemon. Other herbs include garlic, onions, lavender, thyme, linseed, nettle and dock. Still others are cabbage, carrots, turnips, comfrey, rosemary, balm, glycerin and peppermint. Among all the herbs, eucalyptus is still the most popular cure. There are many recommended herbal drinks to treat a cough. One remedy is boiling coltsfoot in water with garlic and brown sugar. An infusion made of coltsfoot leaves sweetened with honey is also said to do the trick. Another treatment is syrup made by boiling coltsfoot leaves with equal amounts of plantain leaves and honey. An herbal drink for coughs was based on a mix of dried sage, honey and vinegar. Another was based also on dried sage but with brown sugar and ginger in water. Another cure was formed by mixing and heating butter, vinegar and honey; also was mixing hart shorn, almond oil, hyssop, sugar and water. Another cure for coughs is an infusion made of hyssop, mullein, ground coriander and marshmallow leaves. The older traditional cures were stranger. One of the folk cures concerns boring a hole into a lemon and filling the hole with honey. The lemon is then roasted wherein the juices are collected and fed to the patient. A stranger remedy involved boring a hole into it and the hole was filled with brown sugar which is then left to sit overnight. The next day, the juices that were collected are given to the patient. Some of the older cures are harder to come by. One example of these cures is a mix of the juices of leeks and fresh breast milk of a nursing mother. Another less palatable remedy involved boiling two or three snails in barley water. You may not want to go through all this trouble for a cough. Bronchitis Bronchitis is the inflammation of the bronchioles of the lungs and is a lot more serious than cough. Actually, the cough is reduced to one of the symptoms of bronchitis. Although most cases require the treatment of antibiotics, there are still a lot of herbal remedies to help heal and relieve the symptoms of bronchitis. The more common remedies for bronchitis are eucalyptus, garlic, honey, ginger, cinnamon and tea. Herbs like bugle, butterbur, caraway, angelica, borage, coltsfoot and comfrey are known to help in the relief of the symptoms. Other herbs such as chickweed, chervil, fenugreek, fennel, ground ivy, liquorices, myrrh, madder, knotgrass and marjoram are also effective. Mullein, parsley, plantain, onion, sage and primrose, thyme, white horehound, watercress, speedwell and savory are also utilized in the treatment of bronchitis. Gardening - Schefflera Care

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By Michael Russell Schefflera is a tropical plant that is commonly kept as an indoor plant. They are sold in many different varieties today and can even be kept as a bonsai tree! The Schefflera is relatively easy to care for and makes a great house plant. The Schefflera is native to Malaysia and is often referred to as the umbrella tree. There are two main varieties of this tree, the Arboricola and the Actinophylla. The Arboricola is the most common type that is kept today and is found in several different forms. The regular Arboricola just has the normal green leaves. The Arboricola Renate has green leaves, but they are rippled. The Arboricola Gold Capella has green leaves as well as yellow or gold leaves. The Arboricola Trinette has green leaves and cream leaves. New varieties of this plant are constantly being introduced so you are bound to see other types as well. The Schefflera needs lots of light to grow, but it must not be kept in direct sunlight. During the summer, it is especially important that no direct sun reaches the plant, even through the windows. Windows can make the sun even more dangerous. If kept in direct sun, the leaves of this plant will get burned. It is important that you do not over water this plant or it will develop root rot. Only water it when the soil is dry. You can water this plant from the top or the bottom. If you water from the bottom, put the pot in water for about ten minutes and the plant will take up the water that it needs. If you water from the top, water it until the water drains through the bottom. If the leaves are turning black, this means that the soil is staying too wet. If the leaves are wrinkling up, then the plant is too dry. Because this is a tropical plant, it needs to have moisture in the air. You can mist the leaves regularly to provide water but often this is not enough. This plant is used to a very humid environment and you will need to supply this water. The best way to create the humidity for your plant is to get a tray and put some pebbles and water in it. Then set your plant on the pebbles. Make sure that the level of the water is below the level of the pebbles and that your plant is not sitting in water. The water will evaporate and the leaves will get the moisture they need. Make sure you use a good quality soil that contains plenty of nutrients. You should also use fertilizer according to the instructions on the package. If you want to make sure your leaves do not turn yellow, you can add some liquid iron two to three times a year. The Schefflera is very prone to getting mites. You need to clean the leaves regularly to prevent this. They especially like to live on the underside of the leaves, so be sure you check there. Cleaning the leaves will also prevent dust build up and allow the sun to adequately reach the leaves. To clean it, use a warm, damp washcloth. This plant is not that hard to keep. The main things to remember are: don’t keep the plant wet, place the plant in a bright area and watch out for mites. Also, don’t be scared to prune the Schefflera. It will do fine after pruning.
